READ TO ACHIEVE

Read to Achieve is a year round program sponsored by the NBA that encourages a love of reading in children. Players and coaches from the Atlanta Hawks, as well as former players participate in various reading and book donation events throughout the city. A recent such event featured a donation of 10,000 books by the Atlanta Hawks to the Atlanta Union Mission’s My Sister’s House in Atlanta.

The Atlanta Union Mission offers an invaluable service to women and children, providing both temporary shelter services, as well as long term treatment and rehabiliation support.

The young kids at the shelter were thrilled to have some great former Hawks players come by to spend time with them and read a few books in the process.
