FALL HERITAGE FESTIVAL–TOWNSEND, TN

I love bluegrass music and I love sitting in a camp chair on a cool Fall day in the Smoky Mountains in Townsend, TN. To be lucky enough to combine these two activities at the Fall Heritage Festival this weekend was awesome. This gathering of pickers and players throughout the region has been going on for ages. It is a gathering of young and old, banjos, guitars, fiddles and bass players. I saw four-year-old cloggers out there dancing as well as those who’ve been stomping there way around for forty years. It is really a celebration of everything good about Tennessee and its old time music and good old souls.

So I put together an audio slideshow of music from the day from incredible clawhammer banjo player Daniel Rothwell (who it the youngest person ever to win the national championship for old time banjo) as well as my images from the day. The other sound you will hear of course is the stomping of feet from the cloggers.  Enjoy!
